The Shining
Started as a small portrait of Jack peaking through the new hole in the door to find Wendy on the other side. I only wanted a small piece to fit a frame I made from scraps of mouldings I had left over in the workshop. It gradually evolved as I didn’t like the formal frame for this piece once it was completed, and opted to use a standard black frame instead. Then I got the idea to add a portrait of Wendy cowering in fear of her possessed husband. I was initially going to frame them separately, but got a bright idea to combine them in the same frame. This would involve creating a custom corner frame, so from a certain point of view, you only see Wendy or Jack or both if you face the corner. This added considerable complexity to the frame creation. I ended up finishing the frame before the portrait of Wendy.
